Read ebooks by Steele Rudd
"On Our Selection"
The sketches contained in this book provide a humorous account of life on a plot of land 'selected' in the late 1800s. Dad and Dave, two of the main characters, became household names in Australia following adaptation of the stories for radio.
Steele Rudd was born in Queensland in 1868, the eighth child of a family which took up a selection in 1875. His own experiences undoubtedly form the basis of this classic set stories of rural life in an age long past. The difficulties experienced by the Rudd family are described including the changeable climate, poor soil and animal pests.
The stories have been dramatised and filmed several times, the latest film being released in 1995.
